UL 1004-5:2020 Standard for Fire Pump Motors is a supplement or amendment to the requirements for rotating electrical machines as defined in UL 1004-1. This standard covers the motors used in fire pump applications as defined by NFPA 20. However, UL 1004-5:2020 does not cover fire pump controllers, which are covered by the Standard for Fire Pump Controllers UL 218. Additionally, it specifically states that this standard does not cover motors intended for use in hazardous locations as defined in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
